Slide 1:
Hello, my name is XYZ (student’s name), and this is my “leadership in nursing practice”
assignment.
Slide 2 (Introduction):
Firstly, I will be starting with an introduction. Todays discussion will be based on a case
study. In the case scenario, the healthcare setting that delivers medical services to the aged
people is encountering challenges regarding the management of the patients’ health records. I
want to say that healthcare professionals are responsible for delivering high-quality and safe
care to patients. Administration, supervision and management of the healthcare system are
referred to as healthcare management. The job of health managers is crucial as they manage,
coordinate and direct healthcare services and ensure that high-quality services are provided to
the patients. However, we have seen that numerous situations have been documented where
patient safety and management have been compromised due to incorrect management
procedures. The case scenario presents the same thing. I feel that it is essential to make
beneficial changes in the healthcare system, and nurses are viewed as leaders in patient care;
therefore, their role is important in making changes to the healthcare system
Slide 3:
I am now moving on to the next part, issues associated with medical records. Medical records
management is crucial for effective professional practice and delivering high-quality care.
The medical records are required to be updated by the healthcare professionals involved in
the patient’s treatment, and it is essential for making effective person-centred healthcare
decisions. Incorrect management of health records leads to the development of healthcare
issues, like what has happened in the case scenario, and so changes are required to be made in
the healthcare system. Good leadership is a critical aspect of healthcare systems, with a broad

range of services enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of organisations. This presentation
aims to evaluate the role of nursing leaders in effecting changes for managing the process.
Slide 4: (Unfreezing stage)
Here I will be talking about a change model developed by Kurt Lewin. The unfreezing stage
is the first phase of the change process. It comprises developing an understanding of
transitioning from one’s current usual environment to a transformed setting and enhancing
people’s ability and desire to adapt. It includes raising awareness about the necessity for the
change and motivating individuals to adopt innovative methods for achieving better
outcomes. Effective communication plays a crucial role in engaging people in the change
procedure and getting desired assistance. Transformational leadership is an approach that can
motivate others to make beneficial changes.
Slide 5:
Therefore, the unfreezing process entails preparing the organisation’s members for the
approaching transformation. It entails presenting a change management strategy. It involves
ensuring preparedness and receptiveness. The process creates a coalition favouring the
transition and offers assistance to the concerned people. In the case scenario, the leader must
exchange dialogue and formulate an instructional strategy to involve care providers in the
transformation.
Slide 6: (Changing stage)
I am now moving on to the next stage, the changing stage. It is also known as the stage of
actual implementation of change. It includes the desire to accept innovative ways of doing
things. Individuals are unfrozen at this point, and the actual modification is done. The leaders
are required to collaborate with others who have similar perspectives so that the change
implemented can be long-lasting and successful.

Slide 7:
However, it is crucial to mention that the transition stage is challenging due to the
ambiguities or people’s concerns about the implications of implementing a transition
procedure. In the case scenario, the healthcare staff are encountering challenges in accessing
medical records. Implementing transformation as a nursing leader necessitates establishing an
engagement network and collaborating with people to overcome transformation hurdles.
Slide 8: (Refreezing stage)
Now I am coming to the final stage, the refreezing stage. It is about solidifying the desired
change. People move from a transition state to a more stable equilibrium state during this
stage. Leaders should incorporate new developments into the environment by recognising
transformation facilitators and difficulties and establishing and advocating long-term change
initiatives.
Slide 9:
In the case scenario, we have seen issues regarding maintaining medical records.
Implementing changes requires changing the organisation from the existing state to a desired
and positive state. Nursing leaders must motivate the team members and make sure that the
organisation is running smoothly. Employees are required to be given recognition and must
be rewarded.
Slide 10: (Conclusion)
Now I am moving on to the last part of todays discussion. In summary, improper
management of the healthcare system poses considerable risk. In the case scenario, the
healthcare setting was experiencing problems with data management. Lewin’s change model
was employed in this study to comprehend and implement beneficial changes to the

organisation to improve the quality of care, and nursing leaders play a crucial role in the
entire process. Nurses possess excellent leadership qualities and collaborate with team
members in implementing changes in the organisation. With this note, I am concluding
todays discussion.
