2 CAREER ACTION PLAN AND SELc -REFLECTION
Introduction
Self -reflection can be defined as the process through which someone can be able to
evaluate his or her own skill and knowledge. Thus, the process can be relatable to
psychological factors where human being tries to gather knowledge about their surroundings
to improve certain characteris tic traits and attributes (Slepcevic -Zach and Stock 2018 ). On
the other go, the career action plan can be interpreted as the process someone undertakes
certain action planning that will help them to obtain the certain career objectives. In simple
words, it can be described as the dynamic process that is done by the young people aid to
report their certain career learning (Popescu 2021) . It is used to set the objectives and also
identify the actions that are compulsory to achieve the goals. For this particular report on the
self -reflection and career action plan, I have chosen the job role of area manager of Orchard
House, and along with that, I have already identified certain skills and knowledge that are
essential to achieve that post.
In this report , I will be discussing the strength and weaknesses through a pe rsonal
SWOT analysis and also will provide a career action plan to develop those weaknesses into
opportunities to have better career growth as an area manager.
Personal Analysis
Here in this segment of the personal analysis, I will be doing my SWOT analys is to
evaluate the certain strengths and weaknesses also the opportunities and threats to understand
my core competencies so that it will help me to identify the certain skillsets that I need to
improve to obtain my desired employment goals (Mikhaylova, Ni kitaeva and Kokodey,
2020 ).
Strengths
ï‚· Communication skill is the greatest
skill that I have. I have fluency in my
regional and official languages
(Sonnenschein and Ferguso n 2020 ).
ï‚· I am good and efficient at Team
Work which will help me to
coordinate with m y subordinate.
Weaknesses
ï‚· I do lack my imaginative and
creativity skills in certain matters in
product handling and client dealing.
ï‚· I also lack interpersonal skills, which
are essential for being in a managerial
position.
Opportunities Threa ts
3 CAREER ACTION PLAN AND SELc -REFLECTION
ï‚· I have excellent negotiation skills,
which will a id me in focusing on my
customer profiling and help me close
the deal by converting the customers.
ï‚· I am also somewhat pro in IT
knowledge, and it will help me to
maintain my excel sheet and other
computerized programs.
ï‚· Imagination and innovation are
mostly required for handling certain
marketing activities, which I lack and
will hamper my credibility for the
position.
ï‚· My interpersonal skill can be a
potential threat to my career path.
From the above SWOT analysis, I have identified my strengths and opportunities and
the weaknesses and threats as well that can create obstacles in my career path. Interpersonal
skills are the most important skillset for being in the area manager post as I have to deal with
many people in the organization and also in my territory (Denney et al. 2020) . This skill set is
very important for achieving success in life. Hence, I need to work on my interpersonal skill,
and at the same time, I need to be more vocal so that I can communicate with my subordinate
and also with my colleagues in my workplace. Another skill that I lack is that imagination
and creativity skills. Imagination and creativity are the two skillsets that are most essential in
handling certain products in a certain market scen ario. These two skills are required and help
someone to have out -of-the -box thinking. So, I need to work on these skills to have a better
understanding of my territory and also use innovative techniques that will lead me to have a
better conversion from my territory.
I have also identified my strengths as I am good at communication skills that will help
me to deal with the customers quite well. Communication skill is very much needed for an
area sales manager as they need to communicate with the distributi on channels and also
sometimes with the customers directly (Darkazanli 2021 ). Also, I am an efficient team player,
and my skills will enhance my team activities and will broaden the scope of my team. From
the above SWOT analysis, I have identified certain strengths that will eventually prove to be
opportunities for me to enhance my career objectives. Negotiation skill is something that is
most essential in a sales profile to persuade customers. And moreover, IT skills are very
much required in the current c orporate pace as these skills will help me to create more
opportunities for myself in the near future.
4 CAREER ACTION PLAN AND SELc -REFLECTION
Career Action Plan
The career action plan is the dynamic process that helps the career opportunities to
make structured planning to keep track of the p rogress of the skill improvement (Fithroni et
al. 2022) . Career action planning has four essential components such as self -assessment
criteria, exploration of career goals, identification of career objectives, and lastly, a plan of
action. Here in this seg ment, the career action will be judged on the basis of SMART goal
setting (Islam and Al Amin 2019 ). The SMART goal directly refers to the Specific ,
Measurable, Achievable, Realistic , and Time.

clear so that interviewer can access the candidateâ€s profile.
Conclusion
In this report , I have identified my weaknes se s that could hamper my career
