Activity 2.3
Making mistakes in work is a common and it is a stress ful event as well, because we have to
face the consequence of it. If mistakes are recognized on time, it can help us all to gain the
correct knowledge, it can also increase the level of creativity , confidence. There are lot of
responsibilities that I have to t ake care in the workplace as I work as in the HR department of
the organization. The main responsibility I have been given is related to recruitment of
employees, there have been certain incidents that recently happened, the people I hired were
not able to successfully fulfill the expectations that was expected of them, they were not able
to do the work properly, did not deliver quality work, or missed deadline, I was not able to
initially understand what the issue was but after self -reflecting on the issue I found out that
maybe I hired wrong people , and I felt that the job description that was posted by me was
poor, there was lots of misalignment, miscommunication, I feel that the job did not match
with the skills of the people and hence they were facing i ssues and were not able to meet the
expectations. Hence, I feel that I was not able to post the correct job description, hence I
needed to post correct job description on the job portals. I accepted my fault and decided to
rectify it so that I do not make the same mistakes in the future. Training is an important
aspect for the employees, as it helps them enhance their skills that they are lacking, few
employees of our company has once told me to arrange training about enhancing the
communication skills, bec ause of late a lot of issues in the team related to communication is
taking place, I said that I will look into their concern but unfortunately did not arrange for the
same as a result of which more confusion and chaos within the team members took place that
affected team efforts, and workplace environment. When I heard about the conflict and chaos
immediately, I realized that I that I should have arranged a training session about effective
communication and then the issue might have been resolved immediately, what I learnt from
this experience is that one should act instantly and not wait for the correct time as it might

increase the issue. By using performance management to ols, I recognize the mistakes of
others if the issue is related to performance, or I collect feedbacks from the fellow colleagues
to understand the issue of a particular employee. There was this one situation when a wrong
data was presented in a meeting, w hen I enquired about the situation, I got to know that it is
negligence of an employee that the wrong data has been present. I personally called the
employee had a talk with him and explained the consequence of negligence and asked him to
take care of this issue next them. I believe individually talking to a person resolves issues
easily.
Activity 2.4
Upgrading knowledge and skills are a mandatory thing to achieve the desired outcome in
professional life. Gaining knowledge beyond the basics of the field is important to get
professional advantage. For an HR or any other professionals, it is important to know how to
retain employees, provide training . For instance, t he main responsibility I have been given is
related to recruitment of employees, there have be en certain incidents that recently happened,
the people I hired were not able to successfully fulfill the expectations that was expected of
them, they were not able to do the work properly, did not deliver quality work, or missed
deadline, I was not able t o initially understand what the issue was but after self -reflecting on
the issue I found out that maybe I hired wrong people . So that I do not repeat the same
mistake and enhance my knowledge about recruiting the right kind of people I tried to use
informa l, formal methods as well as I used self -reflection to learn from my own mistakes. I
read books, articles, newsfeeds, watch TED Talk shows, and also consult survey reports to
understand . Self -reflecting and gaining understanding from my own fault has helpe d me a lot
to upgrade my knowledge, and it has also increased creativity . Newsfeeds, articles, books
contain up -to-date information that would enhance my skills to perform my work properly.

The two issues that I faced in workplace is recruiting right kind of employees . Initially, I did
not know how to put proper job description as a result of which employed wrong people . The
next issue I faced while our company was undergoing going change, as I was given the
responsibility to explain people about the chang es, I faced a lot of resistance while explaining
then the reason behind the change , this led to a conflict with the other employees and I was
unable to explain them that they need no fear. What I understood that I need to work more on
my communication skil ls, leadership qualities to manage people properly.
Activity 2.5
As I initially failed to recruit proper employees and them being not able to perform properly
it negatively affected the performance of the team and also the client was dissatisfied with the
work they were delivered with and secondly, the next issue that I faced is unable to convey
and explain people about the change in organization created agitati on also increased level of
resistance and trust issues. This affected the entire organization to a certain extent for a
certain period of time.
Activity 2.5
Reflecting on the issues I faced, I believe that I need to work on my communicating skills,
and h iring skills as well so that I can effectively convey messages make them understand and
trust me more. Apart from this I need to work on my hiring skills by attending workshops,
reading books, consulting seniors so that I do not make the same mistake.

This reflective journal has been useful for me as I could self -reflect on my weakness,
pondered over it and understood what I need to do to improve my weakness. This self –
reflection would help me in future to carry on with my work properly, and also achieve the
professional goals. Understanding and recording my own fault has taught me lessons as to
how to improve the glitches, made me efficient and increased creativity in me. Hence, I
believe continuous professional development by self -reflecting on my own faults will help
me enhance my skills.
