ASSESSMENT TASK
Blockchain plays an important role in solving many problems and challenges across variety of public concern sectors.
Furthermore, multiple case studies and implementations of Blockchain technology in these sectors were studied and
analysed.
In this Assignment, you will be investigating the importance of blockchain technology in a particular sector where
blockchain enables proper mitigation scenarios to certain problems and challenges in the sector. Specifically, you need to
produce a design-based paper with relevant research and literature review which proposes a blockchain solution to
mitigate a problem/challenge in a sector of your own choosing from the list of sectors listed below:
List of sectors:
1.
E-voting
2.
IoT privacy and trust
3.
Connected vehicles
4.
Digital Identity
5.
Healthcare
6.
Spectrum management
7.
Oil & Gas
8.
Cryptocurrencies
9.
Supplychain
10.
Data Security
The paper should discuss the following:
1.
Problem statement: What is the main problem addressed by this paper and how blockchain technology can
mitigate it?
2.
State of Art: discussion of the previous proposed blockchain approaches which were introduced to solve the
problem?
3.
The blockchain application model proposed in this paper. The blockchain model should be discussed and analysed
in detail.
4.
Appropriate evaluation of the proposed blockchain model and tracilbility of blockchain selection decisions.
5.
Appraisal of your blockchain solution relative to other approaches and to your own set of objectives.
Note:
Suggested paper outline:
1.
Title of the paper
2.
Introduction. Problem statement
3.
Background and related work
4.
Proposed blockchain solution
5.
Evaluation
6.

.
MARKING CRITERIA
The following criteria will be used to assess the assignment:
Problem statement:
Relevance of the problem to Blockchain; project objective and rational:
10%
State of Art:
Evidence of extensive and appropriate discussions of the previous proposed blockchain approaches to solve
the problem:
20%
Proposed blockchain model/solution:
Evidence of appropriate blockchain model; in-depth discussions of the model
components; justification of the proposed approach; traceability of blockchain selection decisions:
30%
Evaluation:
Evidence of appropriate evaluation of the proposed blockchain model; appropriate evaluation method which
includes blockchain practical aspects:
20%
Conclusion:
Appraisal of the process and lessons learned:
10%
Paper quality:
Document structure and coherence; references; clarity and appropriate use of english:
10%
The overall expecations are:
To achieve a pass mark:
The problem within a case study is identified and discussed. Adequate blockchain previous
related approaches are discussed. The proposed blockchain approach is proposed and discussed with adequate
demonstration of blockchain role in solving the problem. The proposed solution is evaluated using a proper evaluation
method.
To achieve a higher mark >70%:
The problem within a case study is well justified and explained. In depth discussions
about the blockchain role in solving the given problem. The literature review shows in-depth critical analysis of the
previous blockchain approaches in relation to the problem mitigation. The proposed blockchain model/solution is well
discussed and explained with traceability and transparency of decisions demonstrate an outstanding knowledge and
understanding of the problem and solution. The evaluation method reflects an accurate process to test the validity of the
proposed solution.
INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (ILOs)
This unit assesses your ability
to
:
1.
Gain knowledge and conduct a critical analysis of the Blockchain technology and its key concepts.
2.
Critically evaluate the Blockchain adoption challenges and existing solutions.
3.
Critically evaluate related cryptographic concepts and apply to Blockchain.
4.
Critically appraise cryptocurrencies and their networks.
5.
Critically understand and evaluate different Blockchain use cases in real world scenario.

If a piece of coursework is not submitted by the required deadline, the following will apply:
1.
If coursework is submitted within 72 hours after the deadline, the maximum mark that can be awarded is 50%. If the
assessment achieves a pass mark and subject to the overall performance of the unit and the student’s profile for the level, it
will be accepted by the Assessment Board as the reassessment piece. This ruling will apply to written coursework and
artefacts only; This ruling will apply to the first attempt only (including any subsequent attempt taken as a first attempt due to
exceptional circumstances).
2.
If a first attempt coursework is submitted more than 72 hours after the deadline, a mark of zero (0%) will be awarded.
3.
Failure to submit/complete any other types of coursework (which includes resubmission coursework without exceptional
circumstances) by the required deadline will result in a mark of zero (0%) being awarded.
